Boy Scout Program
Welcome to The Health Museum’s Boy Scout program! We offer a variety of fun health and science-related badge classes to choose from.

Boy Scout Merit Badge Camps
The Health Museum is pleased to offer Boy Scout Merit Badge Camps! Over the course of these week-long camps, Scouts will earn seven badges including Citizenship in the Community , Citzenship in the Nation and Communications. The other badges will vary depending on which week you choose to attend camp. Most badges are completions.

Each camp includes the courses listed above PLUS:

June 8-12: This camp also includes First Aid, Medicine, Dentistry and Fingerprinting.
June 22-26: This camp also includes Emergency Preparedness, Public Health, First Aid and Fingerprinting.
July 13-17: Registration for this camp is now closed.
August 3-7: This camp also includes Citizenship In the World, First Aid, Dentistry and Fingerprinting.

Boy Scout Merit Badge Classes
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Learn about precautions that should be taken to prevent a variety of emergency situations and techniques that can be used to deal with them, should they occur. This class covers and/or provides scouts with the means to complete all of the requirements for the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge* except for the First Aid merit badge requirements and requirement 8c.

FIRST AID
Do you know first aid? You should! Learn basic and potentially life-saving techniques, including CPR, in this class. This class covers all of the requirements for the First Aid Merit Badge*.

MEDICINE
Do you know what an opthalmoscope, otoscope, and stethoscope are?  Are you interested in learning about careers in the medical field?  Learn about some of the greatest people in the history of medicine and design an advertising campaign in the Medicine merit badge class.  This class covers all of the requirements for the Medicine Merit Badge.*

DENTISTRY
Every heard of a scaler? Want to learn the difference between orthodontics and periodontics? In Dentistry, scouts will learn about the history of this distinct field of medicine, view x-rays and more during this merit badge class. This class covers all requirements (except req. 3) for the Dentistry Merit Badge.*

FINGERPRINTING
Do you know the different types of fingerprint patterns?  What about the differnce between AFIS and biometric fingerprinting systems?  Come learn the answers to these questions and many more in the Fingerprinting merit badge class.  This class covers all the requirements for the Fingerprinting Merit Badge.*

*All scouts attending merit badge classes must be in Class A uniforms, with no exceptions granted. Scouts that fail to come to class in proper attire will not be allowed to remain in class and there will be no refunds provided.
 
PRIVATE CLASS SCHEDULING
Classes are also available through Private Class scheduling (space-permitting) for groups of 10 or more scouts on a first-come, first-served basis. Customized class requests will be considered when submitted at least 30 days prior to the scheduled class. Customized classes are subject to an additional charge of $2 per scout.
