Special Events & Building Rentals
The Health Museum provides an exceptional venue to host your corporate party, special event or child's birthday. Opened to the public in March 1996, this classically styled building is located in the heart of Houston’s Museum District and adjacent to the Texas Medical Center. Our facility of approximately 28,000-square-feet offers a multitude of rental space options to meet your needs for special event rentals.
General Building Policies
Equipment rentals must be delivered the day of the event and picked up immediately following the event. No overnight storage of rentals/equipment is allowed. The Health Museum does not provide staff to move rental equipment, props, musical instruments, staging, etc. The Health Museum is a smoke-free facility. The Museum is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day. The Museum prohibits the following: firearms, live animals, fog, smoke, open flames and helium balloons in the Grand Hall. The Health Museum must approve any equipment hung from any surfaces. Events may not create any hazard or impose undue hardship to the Museum and it exhibits, facilities, staff or visitors. Events must be in agreement with established Museum regulations and not interfere with Museum functions and operations.
Booking Policies
To secure an event date, a signed contract and a deposit must be received at least two weeks prior to the event date. A temporary hold can be placed for a maximum of three weeks. If the items slated above have not been received by the Manager of Corporate Sales and Special Events, the hold is released. Once a date is secured, the client is required to pay the balance of the facility rental to The Health Museum no later than 10 days prior to the event date*. If balance is not received, set-up cannot begin. The client is required to handle all costs and arrangements for the event.
Audio Visual Capabilities
The Health Museum offers audio/visual equipment rental for your event. Our dedicated museum staff is ready to assist with your technical needs and provide onsite coordination during the event. Clients may bring their own equipment or use an outside rental company. If the Museum’s equipment is requested, our standard rates will apply.
Caterers & Rental Equipment
The Health Museum does not require that a specific caterer or rental company be used. However, the client must inform the Special Events Manager of their selected caterer/rental company. The arrival/departure time and setup location must be approved by the Special Events Manager prior to the event date.
